Xero

The days of manual records are, thankfully, long gone. The days of server based software have also passed, and we’re able to enjoy the freedom of cloud based technology that integrates with other packages and makes our lives easier, faster and much less stressful!

Xero was the leader in this process.

It was the first affordable, accessible bookkeeping package that made their software user friendly and allowed other developers to use the open API to be able to build Apps to complement its functionality.

As with any company taking such a disruptive approach, Xero was joined in the market, but has continued to push the boundaries of its software. Constant development has kept things moving on, and we love that! In our view, the expensive ‘market leaders’ of yesteryear were only looking after themselves and have now been relegated to playing catch-up.

The posts in this section are, we hope, the key updates and news that we think clients should be aware of around Xero. We’ll include tips and updates, but this page isn’t intended to be a replacement for the Xero website, Support or Xero Central, where you can find all of the ‘how to’ guides. With their financial backing and ever growing team, they have far more resources to keep users up to date!

Do have a look too at Xero’s YouTube channel, where you can find a range of playlists to take you through a wide range of everyday processes.

As you move around our website, you’d be forgiven for thinking we only work with businesses that use Xero. That’s not the case, but we do love it! We do work with users of other systems though, and Quickbooks definitely has its place, and advocates, amongst our clients.

Quickbooks, and when we say that we mean Quickbooks Online rather than the desktop option, is much more widely known in the US, where it has a considerable fan base. In Europe and the Antipodes though, Xero is more popular.

If you’re a happy Quickbooks user, that’s great! We wouldn’t force anyone to change systems to work with us, so please don’t feel that you’d be under pressure to do so. We simply focus more on Xero as that’s the vast majority of our clients, and the company themselves are more proactive in keeping their accountant partners informed on progress and changes.

We’re aways happy to make suggestions to make your life using your software easier, or to help if clients get stuck, so please do get in touch if you’d like to chat.

Can I just say we are so pleased that we have moved to Baranov Associates. As we discussed when you visited, we had to find a way to take the stress out of all of the financials and you’re doing that for us! We can see how to use Xero more efficiently and so with us being as on top of it as we can be and with you and Liz we feel a lot more confident about our business being in good shape.
