Fiscal Forecast delayed

Budget, News,

New Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced that the planned Fiscal Forecast to be delivered by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has been delayed.

Originally due for presentation on Monday 31st October, it will instead be delivered on Thursday 17th November. At this point it will be upgraded to a full Autumn Statement, which will be supported by costings from the Office of Budget Responsibility (OBR).

One of the primary criticisms of the earlier, ill fated ‘Mini Budget’ presented by Kwasi Kwarteng was the lack of the OBR costings. These were deemed as unnecessary by the then-Chancellor as his plans were not classed as a full Budget.
