Job Retention Scheme Eligibility Date has been amended

Coronavirus, Payroll,

The Government has extended the Job Retention Scheme Eligibility date from the original 28th February to the 19th March 2020. This means that any employees who were on payroll by 19th March can now be furloughed under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

This will allow an expected 200,000 more employees to be able to receive support, whilst reducing the risk of fraud.

The announcement also included confirmation that the online portal to reclaim the costs of the furloughed salaries will go live on the 20th April, as we announced last week.

The revised Job Retention Scheme Eligibility date enables employees who were employed at the point the scheme was announced to be included.

The only requirement is that an RTI submission has to have been submitted on or before the 19th March 2020. This provides HMRC with an indication of the salary level against which the claim will be made.

If you have any questions around the scheme or the claim process, please get in touch.
